Companion
The companion is the built-in AI assistant. Ask it to find something or to make a change anywhere in the product. It acts as you, so it can only do what you could do yourself, and every change it proposes waits for your approval unless you have set that tool to Just do it.
The companion needs an AI model provider configured for the installation. Without one the module cannot be installed.
Where to find it
- The launcher: the sparkle button in the bottom corner of every page opens a conversation in a panel over what you are reading; Open in full moves it to the companion window.
- The companion window (
/companion): ⌘K and typecompanion. It is not an app square in the sidebar, because the launcher is always at hand.
The companion sidebar has:
- Schedules (
/companion/runs) — standing questions and the proposals they left for you. - What it has changed (
/companion/history) — everything it changed for you, with undo. - What it may do (
/companion/settings) — your own limits. - Conversations — New conversation and your past conversations. A filter appears once there are more than six.
Workflows
Ask something or have it make a change
- Select New conversation and type a request.
- When it wants to change something, it shows a proposal: what it would create or change, and whether that can be taken back. Select Do it or Decline.
- Each conversation is kept in the sidebar; open one to continue it.
Set up a standing question
- Open Schedules and select New question.
- Describe what it should look for and how often it runs.
- Proposals it makes appear under Waiting for you. Nothing is changed until you approve. A standing question pauses itself when too many of its proposals are waiting.
Review and undo changes
Open What it has changed. Each change shows what it did; select Take it back to undo. Undo is offered for a limited number of days, and some changes cannot be undone; both are marked.
Limit what it may do for you
Open What it may do. Each tool is grouped by module and set to Off (the companion is not told the tool exists), Ask first (it proposes and waits) or Just do it (it makes the change and shows an undo button). Reading tools are simply On. You can only narrow what your organisation allows, never widen it.
Roles and permissions
- Everybody with access to the module can use it; each action still needs the permission the matching screen would need.
- Administrators set the organisation's ceiling in System console → Marketplace → Companion, in the
matrix of tools against modes. The old address
/admin/companionredirects there.
Tips
- Ask "where is …" questions: it knows the product's navigation.
- Start a new conversation per topic so each stays short and findable.
- Use standing questions for recurring checks (overdue items, expiring documents) instead of asking every week.
Reminders
Reminders are your own to-do lists — call the tax adviser, bring the badge back, renew the domain. They work like Apple Reminders: lists, smart lists, due dates, flags, tags, subtasks, photos and repeats. A list is private until you share it.
Polls
Ask a room a question and watch the answers come in. A poll is a message in a channel or a thread: two to ten options, one choice or several, anonymous if you want, and an optional closing time. The results update live for everybody in the room.
