Soundboard
Play a short sound to everybody in a call: a chime when the build is green, a drum roll before the demo. A handful of sounds come with Enclessa, and your organisation can add its own.
What it's for
A light touch in a call that everybody hears at once. It is not for music or long recordings: a sound you add can be at most 512 KB.
Where to find it
Soundboard lives inside Calls. It has no page of its own. Once it is installed, the bottom bar of a call has a Soundboard button (a speaker). The button is greyed out when you may not speak in that call.
Main workflows
Play a sound
- In a call, press Soundboard.
- Choose a sound: Chime, Fanfare, Buzzer, Sparkle, Drum roll, or one of your organisation's own below them.
- Everybody in the call hears it, and the panel closes.
To hear an organisation sound before you play it to the room, open the actions beside it and choose Play for yourself only.
Add your own sound
- In a call, press Soundboard → Add a sound.
- Pick an audio file of at most 512 KB. The sound is named after the file.
- The sound is shared with everybody in the organisation who has the Soundboard. An organisation can hold up to 50 sounds of its own.
Remove a sound
Open the actions beside the sound, choose Remove, then Remove now. You can remove the sounds you added. Removing anybody's sound needs the Administrator role or organisation administration.
Roles and permissions
| Who | May |
|---|---|
| Everybody who has the Soundboard | Play sounds in a call, add their own sounds and remove them |
| Administrator role, organisation administrators | Remove anybody's sounds; administer the Soundboard roles |
Who has the Soundboard is set under System console → Marketplace → Soundboard → Who gets it. The roles (Member, Administrator) are under System console → Access → Roles, on the Modules tier.
Settings
The Soundboard has no settings of its own. Install it, and decide who gets it, under System console → Marketplace → Soundboard. It is marked Beta there.
Tips
- The phone app plays sounds from the call screen, but sounds are added and removed on the web (The desktop and phone apps).
- Name the file before you upload it:
build-green.mp3becomes build-green.
Polls
Ask a room a question and watch the answers come in. A poll is a message in a channel or a thread: two to ten options, one choice or several, anonymous if you want, and an optional closing time. The results update live for everybody in the room.
The desktop and phone apps
Enclessa runs in any browser. The desktop app and the phone app use the same account and show the same organisation. On top of the browser they add their own windows, notifications that arrive while the app is closed, and a lock.
